This Post will give you important tips before selling on Amazon. This is for those who are just starting or yet to start selling on amazon. Just starting something can have many questions on our mind like how much does it cost, how do we pack and courier, how to generate Invoice etc.
Dont give up because of a difficult Start. The beginnings are always the hardest
We have just jumped into it and started learning on the go. So here are some factors to look one should know before starting to sell.
How much does it cost?
Starting to list the products on amazon is completely free. Once the sale happens, then we are charged with fees (Closing fees, referral fees etc.) on our sale. There are multiple fees charged by amazon. If you want to reduce the fees, then we can select one of their paid plans. We am currently using the free plan
Does Easy ship workout for me?
There are list of pin codes that Amazon picks up and delivers your product to customers. And this is called as Easy ship. When We selected Easy ship, it mentioned that amazon will be picking up from my location, but unfortunately it did not happen. After multiple pickup scheduling the amazon did not pick it up from my location. And you will not be given any proper contact of the pickup person or you cannot contact the right contact from customer service for a proper reason. My assumption is that my location is slightly interior from main town and amazon chose not to pick it up from my location. So We decided to change from Easy ship to Self ship. So it is always better to test out by asking your friend to place an order.
Packaging
Packaging can be really daunting as there are many business who decides to choose aesthetic packaging, We decided to go minimal. We used a Normal Carton box with 150Gsm thickness. And a small name of my company printed on it. So when you are starting a small business, you wouldn’t order a ton of boxes. But unfortunately all the local manufacturer of boxes have minimum order quantity. If you just want to buy around 10 to 20 boxes then you can order through any websites like amazon, but if you want a cost effective box it is better to approach a local manufacturer who can give you the same box half the price compare to the boxes sold online. But note that they would have a minimal order quantity of at least 300 boxes.
How did We pack my orders?
- We used a BOPP covers to keep my products, before packing them in a carton box.
- BOPP is a plastic bag with self sealing gum on it.
- After placing the products on BOPP covers, place it on carton box.
- Before closing the carton box, one has to place the invoice inside the carton box as per the requirement. This is generate automatically by Amazon. Amazon also generates packing slips which is not required to be printed anymore.
- After placing them, close the carton box and seal them with good quality tapes
- For additional protection We place the carton box in a self sealing courier cover.
- The last step is to paste the shipping label outside. We print our shipping label manually since we self ship the orders. This label has from and to address along with senders and customers phone number.
Always do a testing order so that you are all ready to ship your orders when you get an actual Order.

How to Brand Registry on amazon
Tints and Toons has been registered for trademark and because of which we have registered with Brand registry on Amazon. This Brand registry allows you to create a store front on amazon where we have a place to showcase our brand. You can also edit the URL of your storefront if you have registered your brand.

One more important tip that no one tells you easily, Amazon advertising or branding page only opens properly on Firefox browser and not on google chrome. We were trying for more than a week to figure out why my advertising page doesn’t open. Thankfully it is working fine now and had few sales by advertising on amazon. Also Amazon provides some credit amount for new sellers to start advertising on amazon. So don’t wait to sell.
